Let’s now analyse the Cake Washing for the filter press (also called cake washing).
The washing of the cake, partly analysed previously talking about membrane plates and squeezing, allows to:

–Eliminate contaminants present in the mud

-Recover substances left inside the cake and which are the noble part of the process (recovery of the mother fluid).

The device is composed in a completely analogous way to that of cake blowing.

The washing liquid then enters the cake inside the filter (into the entire chamber). The filtrate flows away through its holes in the plate intended for this function.
Optimal washing results are achieved in particular when the flexible membranes which are part of the membrane plates are inflated so as to stabilize the filter cake during washing of the cake.
